Modern Painters magazine and Louise Blouin Media inaugurates the Re:Vision Design Awards for emerging designers whether from the field of furniture, lighting, product, interior or environmental design that thoughtfully explore new ways to live, play and interact in the domestic environment.
Eligibility: The competition is open to all (younger than 40 and working less than 10 years) from any country, students can participate.
Prizes: 1st: 10,000 USD, two runner ups: 2,500 each, and all the winning and finalist designs will be published in the Modern Painters magazine.

Often one small idea leads to mould-breaking solutions in design problems. And the creative brains are never idle, they are always producing amazing 'fix' by design to many problems craving for solutions. Its time to put those ideas on drawing tables.
Like last couple of years Metropolismag has been declared the 2010 Next Generation Design Competition. They call for 'One Design Fix for the Future' to architects, interior, product, landscape, graphics designers. The 'design fix' you can make now in your designed environment like the products you use, your home, workplace, city or any commercial application that has the power to improve our future more or less.
A 'business idea' is also supposed to be submitted along with the design idea. Submission and registration is online.
Eligibility: Competition is open to all architects, interior designers, landscape designers, urban designers, graphics designers, product designers and students who are not in practice more than 10 years. None professionals can also participate.
Deadline: January 29, 2010
Registration Fees: 75 USD for each submission (maximum 3 submissions per participant or group is allowed)

A sought after project: Taipei Pop Music Center International Design Competition

This competition is something architects always wait for! Designing a national center for pop music is really somewhat an interesting and challenging competition. It may give one the opportunity to get into the raw practice of involving cultural issues in architecture.
With an area of approximately 7.65 hectares, the center base is located in Nangang District, Taipei City, nearby the MRT Kunyang Station. The principal space design comprises of an indoor performing hall with 4500-6000 seats, an outdoor performing space with 15000 standing seats, exhibition space for reputed musicians, a digital library, a medium and small indoor exhibition and performing live house, industrial communities and incubation space, etc. Its a two stage open design competition. The total budget for the construction is about 106,000,000 USD. The winning architect will get a fixed service fees in the total amount of 11,500,000 USD.
In the first stage the architect or the firm or the association has to submit the general information, profile and the design in maximum 40 A3 pages.
Eligibility: Any licensed architect from any country is qualified to tender.
Deadline: Stage One Material Submission Deadline: 19th October 2009 (before 09:30 GMT)
